I represent the Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association, a professional organization of physicians, residents, interns and student. We enthusiastically endorse your Senate Bill 148, the Saving the Cure Act. We believe that to ignore the collection and research of stem cells acquired from umbilical, placental and amniotic tissues is counter to our collective concern of treating illnesses and diseases of our Georgia Citizenry. We applaud the careful way that this bill has been crafted to avoid the ethical controversy that has hampered stem cell research. We stand strongly with you as you move forward with this most important piece of legislation.
Thank you for bringing this issue forward. Your leadership is appreciated.
