Dear Senator Shafer:
The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, a nationwide organization of physicians in all specialties founded in 1943, commends the Georgia legislature for its efforts to salvage potentially life-saving human stem cells in a manner that does not sacrifice an early human life.
This measure is in accord with the Oath of Hippocrates and the official AAPS policy that “supports the right to life of human beings from the moment of conception to natural death” (Resolution 2003-2).
Jane M. Orient, M.D.
