Georgia Nurses Association

Dear Senator Shafer:

The Georgia Nurses Association supports Senate Bill 148, the Saving the Cure Act, which encourages umbilical cord blood donation and promotes stem cell research with stem cells from non-controversial sources.

Many registered nurses in our state are actively involved with patients considering cord blood donation. We recognize the scientific value of umbilical cord blood and other postnatal tissues. Our national affiliate, the American Nurses Association, has taken a position of this issue at the Federal level and we believe that stem cell research will have a significant impact on health and quality of life.

The Georgia Nurses Association appreciates your leadership on this issue and supports your efforts as SB 148 moves forward.
